Epidemiological investigation, characterization and antifungal susceptibility profile of Microsporum canis isolated from pet animals

Dermatophytoses is a very old and neglected ailment in man as well animals. The development of antifungal resistance another emerging issue. Among the different etiologies, Microsporum canis plays crucial role. present study was undertaken to investigate epidemiology of, characterize, explore susceptibility profile M. isolated from pet A total 97 (59.15%) (Dog-46, Cat-51) isolates were identified by using PCR. prevalence highest puppies (19.1%) kittens (25.78%) relation age. No sexual predisposition found this study. Seasonal distribution revealed summer lowest winter. Resistance against Fluconazole Griseofulvin observed few isolates. results indicate need properly identify pathogen, be cautious selecting drug for treatment order stop further resistant dermatophytes.
